About

A guide to downtown West Palm Beach, written by locals who walk it.

Clematis Street is an editorial directory covering the five downtown WPB neighborhoods. We publish listings, maps, and stories about the businesses that make downtown worth living in.

Our mission

Downtown West Palm Beach is one of the most walkable, independent-business dense pockets in South Florida, and most of its best spots never show up in a Google search unless you already know their name. We think that's a problem worth fixing. Clematis Street is our answer to it: a directory maintained by people who actually live, eat, and shop here.

We don't publish reviews, we don't run ads, and we don't accept payment for coverage in the Journal. A business pays to be listed, not to be endorsed. That line is the whole reason this works.

How we verify

Every listing, hand-checked.

01

Confirm the business is open

Before a listing goes live, the editorial team confirms it's still trading, in the location on file, with the hours it reports. If a business closes, we take it down.

02

Walk the block

Every photo on a Clematis Street listing is either our own, provided by the business, or sourced with permission. No stock photos pretending to be the real place.

03

Tag it for the way people search

Each listing ships with full LocalBusiness schema markup: neighborhood, hours, price range, map, and category, so search engines and AI assistants can actually recommend you.

04

Keep it current

There are no public user accounts. When a business's hours, phone, or details change, you email us and the editorial team updates the listing. That's it.

What we cover

Five neighborhoods, one directory.

We stay inside downtown West Palm Beach on purpose. The whole point of a neighborhood directory is that someone, somewhere, actually knows the neighborhood.

Listings pay. Opinions don't.

A business pays for its directory listing. Full stop. That fee covers verification, hosting, photo work, and the schema markup that gets you discovered. It does not buy a review, a Journal story, or a spot on the homepage rotation that we would not have given you anyway.

If we recommend a place in a Journal piece, it is because we think it's worth recommending. If we leave someone out, it is because we think it is not. Those two things are not for sale.

Got something we should know about?

A business you love, a correction on a listing we got wrong, a story worth telling, we want to hear it.
